Thank you to all who have “adopted” and made the Adopt-A-Bone
community program a resounding success!
After more
than two years, Adopt-A-Bone has ended as of January 9, 2009.
More than 2,300 bones and teeth were “adopted,” contributing
over $250,000 to the renovation and expansion of historic Dinosaur
Hall at Carnegie Museum of Natural History into Dinosaurs
in Their Time, the first permanent exhibition in the
world to feature scientifically accurate, immersive, and detailed
reconstructions
of environments spanning the breadth of the Mesozoic Era. This
exceeds the original goal of $200,000 set at the beginning of
the program.
Special thanks
to the Laurel Foundation for its $45,000 matching gift program,
which was instrumental in our reaching and surpassing our goal.
For those who
have “adopted”:
The final plaque acknowledging your donation will be permanently
installed in Summer 2009 on the Lee B. Foster Overlook. You will
also be able to locate your bone adoptions on the touch-screen
kiosk located in the Cretaceous Seaway section of Dinosaurs
in Their Time.
If you are still interested in making a contribution to Dinosaurs
in Their Time or have any questions, please contact Steve Morrison
at 412.578.2479.
Please accept
Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s sincerest
thanks for your participation!
