For Immediate Release April 6, 2009 Carnegie Museum of Natural History Director,
Samuel M. Taylor, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…Samuel
M. Taylor, Director of Carnegie Museum of Natural History, was
awarded one of 17 fellowships offered to
leaders of science museums, science centers, and children’s
museums across the globe by the Noyce Foundation, based on Palo
Alto, California, in collaboration with the Association of Science-Technology
Centers (ASTC). Through knowledge, tools, best practices, and
professional networks, these leaders will advance innovation
at their own institution
during the year-long fellowship. The goal of the program is to
empower these leaders who will act as change agents at the crossroads
of
societal trends, global issues, and the cutting edge of informal
science. Carnegie Museum of Natural History is pleased to announce the addition of Walter W. Turner—also a Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh Trustee—and Robert C. Buzzellito to the existing 46-member Board, effective January 2009. Terms for both men run through 2012. Walter W. Turner has been President and CEO of Koppers Holdings Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, since 1998. His prior jobs include vice president and manager positions of both the Carbon Materials and Chemicals Division and Marketing and Development for Industrial Pitches Division at Koppers. A global integrated producer of carbon compounds and treated wood products, Koppers operates facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia, China, the Pacific Rim and South Africa. Turner also sits on the Board of the National Aviary. Robert Buzzelli is Managing Director of Fifth Third Private Bank, a position he has held since October 2007. Prior to his position at Fifth Third, Buzzelli was an investment officer at PNC Advisors and treasurer at USX Corporation. Buzzelli is on the Advisory Board for the Bloomfield Business Association and on the Board of Directors for Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc. Carnegie Museum of Natural History, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, is ranked as one of the top five natural history museums in the country. It maintains, preserves, and interprets an extraordinary collection of 21 million objects and scientific specimens used to broaden understanding of evolution, conservation, and biodiversity.
