Celebration of the Horse Event, May 23, at
Powdermill Nature Reserve Announced

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…In accompaniment to The Horse exhibition on view at Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Powdermill Nature Reserve—the field research station of the museum—is pleased to host a Celebration of the Horse show at the St. Clair Show Grounds, Rolling Rock Farms, in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. On Saturday, May 23, from noon–4 p.m, visitors will be treated to a dynamic show that includes performances in dressage, rodeo, jumping, and more to demonstrate the horse’s role in work, sport, and warfare through the ages. The event will open with a Parade of Breeds that showcases the beauty and diversity across different types of horses.

Tickets are priced at $15 for adults (age 12 and older), $10 for children (ages 6–12), and children age 5 and under free. A VIP pass is available for $100 per person and includes lunch, preferred seating, and valet parking. Parking for general admission is available at the intersection of Routes 30 and 711, with shuttle buses to the show grounds available. Tickets will be available for purchase online at http://members.carnegiemuseums.org/horseshow or at the door.

Powdermill Nature Reserve
Located in Rector, Westmoreland County, Powdermill was established in 1956 and is Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s research station and nature education center. Powdermill sustains and protects a variety of natural habitats where researchers and educators focus on ecological processes. It is also home to one of the longest continually running avian research stations in the United States.
