Carnegie Museum of Natural History Offers
“Tours” of Ancient Egypt in Earth Theater

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…Carnegie Museum of Natural History offers visitors a ticket to travel back in time to Ancient Egypt to explore the Temple of Horus, beginning June 13. This dynamic 3-D tour—by way of the immersive Earth Theater—explores the unity of religion, government, art, education and everyday life in ancient Egypt.

Virtual Egyptian Temple tour leads visitors through the heart of daily life in Ancient Egyptian society—the temple. The temple’s form and decoration represent a symbolic model of their world. For example, the architecture of the temple is used as a touchstone to discuss the practices and beliefs that governed Ancient Egyptian society and daily life. Virtual Egyptian Temple tour complements Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s Walton Hall of Ancient Egypt, where visitors can further examine Egyptian culture through the study of artifacts, including a funerary boat, mummies, and sarcophagi.

Virtual Egyptian Temple joins four other programs available to the public in Earth Theater: Dinosaur Prophecy, Amazon Voyage, Night of the Titanic, and OvirapTour. Earth Theater presentations are available to visitors daily, and are free with museum admission. More information and a full schedule are available on the Today Sheets, available daily at the admission desks.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, is ranked as one of the top five natural history museums in the country. It maintains, preserves, and interprets an extraordinary collection of 21 million objects and scientific specimens used to broaden understanding of evolution, conservation, and biodiversity. More information is available by calling 412.622.3131 or from the Web site, www.carnegiemuseums.org.
