Third Annual “Egg-cellent” Scavenger Hunt
at Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…While exploring the museum in search of eggs and information, children will have an exciting afternoon full of prizes and learning! On Saturday, April 11, from noon–4 p.m., children and their families will journey through the halls of Carnegie Museum of Natural History on a scavenger hunt unlike any other.

Armed with an Activity Guide, children will travel to six Discover Stations, one at a time, for an egg-related nature question. The answer completes a rhyming clue, and egg hunters will use the clue to find eggs in the museum. For example, a clue from one of the stations might be: A crocodile hatches from a nest by a lake; another reptile to hatch from an egg is a…SNAKE! Docents and teen docents will then direct participants to a display of snake eggs, and are available to answer questions and begin a discussion about the animals in question. Correct answers are rewarded with a stamp on the Activity Guide, a plastic egg stuffed with a special surprise, and lots of fun facts and hands-on opportunities! Each station will have a different clue, prize, and activity!

The program is available to the first 1,000 children, and it is free with museum admission.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, is ranked as one of the top five natural history museums in the country. It maintains, preserves, and interprets an extraordinary collection of 21 million objects and scientific specimens used to broaden understanding of evolution, conservation, and biodiversity. More information is available by calling 412.622.3131 or from the Web site, www.carnegiemnh.org.
