Sleep tight in the company of a black bear!
Families, school and homeschool groups, scout troops, and youth groups—bring your sleeping bags for a "camping" experience inside Carnegie Museum of Natural History! Sleep tight in the company of a rhinoceros, or roll out your sleeping bag in the high meadow next to a grizzly. Enjoy eight activities, including hands-on projects, museum tours, games, and visits to the Discovery Room and Bonehunters Quarry. Overnights also include an evening pizza party, a continental breakfast, and an embroidered patch. Theme-based adventures may include a Science on Stage performance, an Earth Theater show, or special guest appearances. Don’t forget to explore the other exhibition areas with your free admission the next day!

Dive into the exciting world of whales during this overnight adventure! Learn about cultures shaped by their relationship with whales from the Arctic Inuit to the Māori of the South Pacific, make your own whale-inspired art, and explore the special exhibition Whales | Tohorā.

Scheduling
Overnight times are from Friday, 6:30 p.m. to Saturday, 9:45 a.m. Orientation for the evening begins promptly at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Required Chaperones
Campers must be at least 6 years old.
One adult for every five children is required.
Fee
$40 per person—includes $10 non-refundable deposit due within 30 days of booking. Fee is for all participants, including chaperones, and must be paid in full no later than one month in advance of the overnight. Unpaid reservations may result in cancellation of a program.
Refunds
A full refund, less a $10 handling fee, will be granted for
withdrawals made with at least thirty days’ notice.
No refunds will be granted with less than thirty days’ notice.
Private Overnight Adventures
Special overnights are available for individual groups—choose any of the themes below. Advance notice of at least eight weeks is required. Minimum payment for 75 participants is due within 30 days of booking; maximum number of participants is 120. Call Bonnie Weiss at 412.622.3252 for more information.

Learn more about our Mesozoic marvels as you take part in a variety of hands-on dinosaur activities, games, tours, and creative projects. No bones about it—this is your best opportunity to explore Dinosaurs in Their Time up close!

(Just for grades PK-K—please, no younger or older siblings)
Wear your pajamas and join us for a pajama party at the museum! Children ages 3-6 years old and their parents or chaperones will have the chance to “try out” our Overnight Adventures without actually staying overnight. The evening runs from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. and includes a variety of dinosaur-themed activities and a pizza party. Guests receive a patch to take home.
Cost: $25 per person.
