arnegie Museum of Natural History anthropological collections are worldwide in scope. The Section of Anthropology houses over 100,000 ethnological and historical specimens and 1.5 million archaeological artifacts. Included are major research collections from Central Africa, Asia (China and Japan), Australia, North America (Arctic, Southwest, Plains, Northwest Coast), and South America (Amazonia). Other notable collections include artifacts from the Upper Ohio Valley, Costa Rica, and Egypt and special collections of ancient glass, historic and ethnographic dolls, and lighting devices.
