Effort

Not only is expending the proper amount of effort in your block(s) important, so is maintaining accurate records of how long you spend atlassing, driving to and from atlas blocks, time spent on the website or atlas-related compiling, etc. As you might know, much of the money that makes this atlas possible comes from federal grant money given to the State of Pennsylvania for their State Wildlife Grants Program. These grants require a matching donation; in our case, this is the effort all of our volunteers put in on this project. Please keep track of your effort on the front of the field cards.

When entering your data online, you will notice an opportunity to fill in your effort at the end of your data entry. You can either enter it at that time or return later to enter this information. If you return later, look for the "incomplete effort link" in “My Home." This will take you to the pages for entering your effort, both birding a block and other atlas-related effort.
