² Many species in the GCI category are listed in various state and/or regional bird conservation prioritization schemes, for example, Audubon Watchlist for Pennsylvania (x-red higher priority than x-yellow), Partners in Flight Priority Species and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Birds of Conservattion Concern--see six columns at right.

⁴ When "point locate" is not in boldface, i.e., not required, it should be taken to mean that Atlas volunteers are being encouraged to register multiple records of these species within their blocks, as time allows. Thus, while a species like Common Yellowthroat, not on this list, should be recorded just once in a block up to confirmed breeding, we would like to obtain data for every observation that Atlas volunteers can get for Golden-winged Warbler within a block.
