When will the project be finished?
Phase One of Dinosaurs in Their Time - the majority of the exhibit - opened to the public on November 21, 2007, marking the 100th anniversary of the original Dinosaur Hall. Phase Two of the project –– featuring two T. rex skeletons posed mid–fight –– will open on June 15, 2008.

What will be different in the new Dinosaur Hall?
Well, for one thing, it has a new name! The old Dinosaur Hall is now Dinosaurs in Their Time. The new name reflects the fact that, for the first time, the dinosaurs are integrated into the environments of their respective time periods. Even though dinosaurs are no longer with us, the plants, mammals, fish, and insects that surrounded them continue to evolve and create the biological diversity that surrounds us today. Carnegie's dinosaurs are remounted in scientifically accurate, active poses, and new specimens never before seen by the public were added to the exhibit. It's a project 200 million years in the making!

crocodileWho is working on the dinosaurs?
Phil Fraley Productions, Inc., of Hoboken, New Jersey, is handling the disassembly, remounting, and reinstallation of the dinosaurs. About three years ago, the enormous skeletons were dismantled and taken to Fraley's studios where they were given their new look. As each dinosaur was finished, it was shipped back to Pittsburgh to be remounted in its new, scientifically accurate position.

What is currently on display?
On display are dinosaurs and other plants and animals from the Triassic, Jurassic and portions of the Cretaceous periods. Visitors will see familiar faces from Dinosaur Hall such as Diplodocus, Apatosaurus, Allosaurus, and Stegosaurus. They are joined by newcomers such as the baby Apatosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and the swimming reptiles of the Cretaceous Seaway, among others.

On June 15, 2008, the final phase of the exhibit will open and feature the museum’s original T. rex posed mid–fight with a cast of an entirely new T. rex.

Will PaleoLab and Bonehunter's Quarry be closed?
