Dr. A. Avinoff, Director
Carnegie Museum
Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania.
Dear Dr. Avinoff:-
I was delighted to receive
the pterosaur casts which arrived yesterday in good condition. Please
advise us as to the value of these casts so that we can enter them in
our exchange account.
In coloring the casts we are
somewhat in doubt about the colors of the matrix and the bone in the cast
of Camphylognathus [sic] #1124. Will you please have Sidney [sic]
Prentice send a sample color of the matrix and one of the skeletal bones.
He can send us a sample color on paper approximating the colors of the
specimen and of the matrix.
The work of Tyrannosaurus
has proceeded more rapidly than anticipated and the specimen will be ready
by November 1st, so that you can now make calculations accordingly, letting
us know approximately what day we may expect the truck.
As ever,
Sincerely yours,
Barnum Brown
Notes for Dr. Brown:
See people making Carboniferous
restoration for plants and casts to be used in our restorations.
Also learn about disposition
of Permian material for description and possibilities of casts.
See especially:
Nyctosaurus skeleton #11422 and any other specimens from the Bayer
[Bayet?] collection that could be acquired.
