Activities
for Each Session.
Activities include a variety of discussion and demonstrations, hands-on
exploration time using touchable materials, guided time in exhibit
halls, and craft and project time. Activities may also include special
programs such as the Discovery Room, Bonehunters Quarry, Earth Theater,
behind-the-scenes tours, or special guest appearances as they relate
to specific topics covered in each camp.
Children
ages 6–12
must bring lunch from home.
Campers will eat as a group in the Brown Bag Lunchroom. Access to
vending machines is limited, and the Museum cannot be responsible
for money lost in the vending machines. Other food such as sandwiches
and baked goods are available in the Fossil Fuels snack bar; however,
staff cannot monitor purchases. Lunchtime includes supervised outdoor
activity time.
Parents/Guardians
are required to sign campers in and out each day.
Alternate arrangements for pick-up must be made in the morning in
writing, and adults will be required to present identification at
pick-up. Parking will be made as convenient as possible.
Instruction
and Supervision
Experienced Museum educators with all necessary clearances teach
all camps. There are also college-age teacher aides and teen volunteers
that assist in the supervision of campers. There is a 5-to-1 ratio
of children to adults.

post-camp. Registration must be made for the entire week.
Care is not available on a day-to-day basis. To
insure that adequate staffing is available, arrangements for pre-
and post-care should be made at the time of registration. Limited
space is available. Registrations will be accepted on a first come
first served basis.
Extended
hours are:
Pre-care: 7:30–9 a.m. Campers can arrive at any time during
this period. Children will not be
permitted in pre-care until 7:30 a.m.
Post-care: 3–6 p.m. Campers may be picked up at any time during
this period. There will be a $10 late fee for every 15 minutes past
the 6 p.m. pickup time.
