 Africa

Africa has to be one of the coolest places at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Its display cases are full of familiar creatures that you would see if you went on a safari in Africa. In the exhibit there are excellent specimens from four different African biomes including mountain, rainforest, desert and savanna. On the cart visitors will find touchables including a Djembe drum, elephant ear, and warthog skull.

Giraffe Leg - The giraffe metatarsal is pretty big, about two feet high. The giraffe walks on its "toes," which means what you might think are its knees are actually its ankles. How many bones are in the giraffe's long neck?

Elephant Ear - The elephant ear is another highlight at the Africa cart. If you look closely, you can find hairs on the ear. Why does the elephant have such a huge ear?
