volunteering in the Discovery Room Would you like to help out in the Division of Education? We always need volunteers!

Thermo Fisher Scientific Biotechnology Lab
The Thermo Fisher Scientific Biotechnology Lab, featuring state-of-the-art equipment, is a place where visitors can learn about how biotechnology relates to larger themes in natural history. The lab offers a variety of programs to museum visitors on Saturdays and to schools and other groups throughout the week. Some knowledge of biology and lab safety is preferred. Volunteers should enjoy working with people of all ages and be available for a 4–5 hour block of time each volunteer session. Discovery Room
Volunteers in the hands-on Discovery Room assist visitors of all ages in engaging activities. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, enjoy working with people of all ages, and be available for 3.5 hours one day each week or every other weekend. Teen Docents
Teen Docents explain touchable natural history objects to visitors at various stations throughout the museum. Volunteers must be teenagers who enjoy interacting with visitors of all ages and be available one Saturday per month during the school year and one day a week during the summer. Traveling Classroom
The Traveling Classroom presents programs on selected natural history topics to Pre-K through high school students in their school classrooms. Volunteers must be able to travel, carry materials, and be available on weekdays during the school year. Museum on the Move
Museum on the Move is an outreach program that provides Natural History and anthropology programs for children with special needs in the greater Pittsburgh area. Volunteers must be able to travel and carry materials, and be available on weekdays throughout the year. EXPRESS (Exciting Programs Especially for Seniors)
This Museum on the Move branch program offers programs to senior citizens in personal care homes, assisted living facilities, senior citizen centers, and adult day care programs. For more information, please contact Lenore Adler at (412) 688-8687 or AdlerL@CarnegieMNH.org.

*Open 10 a.m.–5 p.m.on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, and Mondays in the summer between 4th of July and Labor Day.
