Falls of the Ohio
River - A world-famous fossil locality, the Falls of
the Ohio is comprised of a ledge of Devonian limestone (Jeffersonville
Limestone) that protrudes out of the river channel and is surrounded by
gravels deposited during the Pleistocene. This is where William Clark
met with the growing Corps of Discovery in October 1803. (Lewis and Clark,
8/25/1803)
