The Main Carnegie Museum of Natural History Library is in the Oakland complex of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History at 4400 Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, the library collections themselves are distributed throughout this building, the O'Neil Research Center and Powdermill Nature Reserve. Because we may need some time to locate the material you have requested, please call us at 412-622-8870 or 412-622-3284 before you come to the Library. Books and journals in the Museum Library collection do not circulate, but must be used in the Museum Library. Online Access To check online to see if the Library owns a particular book or periodical title, search the online catalog. CMNH Library holdings will be listed as CMNH - [name of the departmental library]. If you want to limit your search to the holdings of the CMNH Library, please select CMNH from the dropdown list "Look in the following location." Photocopies The Library has an overhead scanner on which all photocopying is to be done. Photocopies of material in the Library's collections are available for $ .15 per page if done by the user onsite. Scanned material can be provided electronically as PDFs and sent via email if desired. Off-site users may request photocopies of specific material, but interlibrary loan charges will apply. The minimum charge for photocopy requests is $10.00, which includes the first 10 pages.& Additional pages are supplied at $ .15 per page. Interlibrary Loan The Museum Library provides access for Carnegie Museum staff to OCLC's FirstSearch, an interactive online information system which can be used to search for bibliographic citations or statistical information. Some databases available via FirstSearch include abstracts or provide the full text of material cited. To use FirstSearch:
