Lead and zinc have been mined from the Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria for hundreds of years. Fine crystal specimens of galena and sphalerite as well as a host of other important minerals such as pyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite and quartz have been preserved from the numerous mines in this Balkan region. |
