Between 60 and 65 million years ago,
Nearly on quarter of India was covered
by thick volcanic flows of basalt. Today, these rocks form the Deccan Plateau and are rich in a group of silicate minerals known as zeolites.
India’s Maharashtra State has produced many of the finest known crystals of zeolites and related minerals.
