Historapod by Chris Smith About the Design
Graffiti artist Chris Smith wheat-pasted a collection of old and recent area newspapers, photos and copies into an abstract graffiti piece around the lower portion of the dinosaur. Some parts are dyed with coffee, tea or other materials to give them an older look. Making use of negative space and limited color, black and white portraits of Pittsburgh icons and personalities are portrayed in various places and sizes around the dinosaur. Paint splotches, stains,Sold!instances of type, pictures and ornamental designs are incorporated into an overall semi-tattered look. The hip and historical presentation of this Stegosaurus pays homage both to Pittsburgh’s noble "yesterday" and its cutting-edge "today."
