The
Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria
Lead and zinc have been mined from the Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria for hundreds of years. Fine crystal specimens of galena and sphalerite as well as a host of other important minerals such as pyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite and quartz have been preserved from the numerous mines in this Balkan region.
