CM27587 Silver-grey crystals of galena in epitaxial relationship to black crystals of sphalerite from Dalnegorsk, Russia, 7.5 cm wide. When the crystals of two different mineral species with similar molecualar structures grow together in such a way that their molecular structures are alligned with each other, they are said to be in epitaxial relationship. It is almost as if the two minerals grow as a single crystal! This specimen was purchased from Jeff & Gloria's Minerals in 1998.
