Quartz
Quartz is the most common mineral in the crust of the earth. The quartz specimens in this exhibit show diversity in color and crystal habit from various localities around the world.
Because of its composition of silicon dioxide, quartz can be classified as either a silicate or an oxide. For this reason, the quartz specimens are displayed on their own instead of being incorporated into the Systematic Collection.
