Guided tours of Dinosaurs in Their Time free with admission
at Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.... Guided tours of Dinosaurs in Their Time have returned to Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Each tour is a trip back in time to visit the Mesozoic Era—the Age of Dinosaurs—where visitors experience Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, T. rex, and other favorites with museum staff as their guides. These all-ages tours are free with museum admission and no reservations are required. Heralded as one of the best places in the world to see and learn about dinosaurs, Dinosaurs in Their Time is the first permanent exhibition anywhere to feature dynamically posed, scientifically accurate dinosaur skeletons immersed in re-created environments. Carnegie Museum of Natural History is known worldwide for its collections and scientific research, which help people of all ages better understand important scientific principles such as evolution, extinction, and interconnectivity of ecosystems and nature.

About Dinosaurs in Their Time
Featuring 19 fully articulated dinosaur skeletons, Dinosaurs in Their Time places dinosaur species with the plant and animal species that lived at the same time. The exhibition is arranged chronologically so visitors “walk through” approximately 185 million years in time, beginning in the Triassic Period (251–200 million years ago), winding into the Jurassic (200–145 mya), and ending in the Cretaceous Period (145–65 mya). The re-created environments demonstrate that all dinosaurs did not live at the same point in history, and also show visitors the interconnected ecosystems in which dinosaurs participated with many other plants, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and even mammals.

All told, Dinosaurs in Their Time exhibits 230 plant and animal specimens, of which 75% are actual fossils from Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s renowned invertebrate and vertebrate paleontology collections. Interactive panels with touchscreen technology engage visitors and encourage exploration of more information about the environments and the dramatic events unfolding before them. A blend of scientific knowledge and artistic design, Dinosaurs in Their Time features several large-scale tableaus, such as two T. rex specimens engaging in battle over a fallen Edmontosaurus, and an adult Apatosaurus with a whip-like tail protecting its young from a charging Allosaurus.
