overnightsWe re-imagined our overnight program and have pulled out all the stops to please your family or group. In these new overnights, our VIPs—Very Important Participants!—have access to behind-the-scenes areas, have up-close encounters with amazing live animals, and much more.

Premium Overnights include admission to the Museum on Saturday, as well as an evening pizza party and a continental breakfast including coffee, tea, milk, cereal, pastries, and fruit. Overnights begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and end at 10 a.m. the next morning.

2014 price: $60 per person; 2015 price: $65 per person

Carnegie Science Extravaganza
Friday, May 8–Saturday, May 9, 2015

This adventure features special access to behind-the-scenes areas with staff scientists on hand to engage you in the fascinating observations, collections, and discoveries made right here in the halls of our historic building. All three exhibition floors of the museum are open for guided exploration and hands-on science activities with Museum Educators. This overnight includes a cool take-home artifact.

From dinosaurs to ancient Egypt, this overnight has something for everyone!

Design Your Own Private Overnight!

Spend the night making memories with help from our experienced and fun Museum Educators as they guide you through 3 hours of your selected overnight activities.

Private Overnights include admission to Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History on Saturday, as well as an evening snack and light breakfast items, including coffee, milk, cereal, and fruit. Overnights begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end at 10 a.m. the next morning.

  • Dinosaurs in Their Time and First Floor scavenger hunt, and dinosaur fossils
  • Cultural Halls and Third Floor scavenger hunt, and touchable artifacts
  • Fossil Jacketing Course with take-home fossil replica and time in Bonehunters Quarry for fossil digging
  • Wildlife Halls and Second Floor scavenger hunt, and skull identification activity

Important Information

  • Meals
    Please, to preserve our exhibits and collections, no outside food or drink. Contact us to discuss special dietary needs.
  • Accommodations
    Participants sleep on carpeted and tiled floors as a group. No tents are permitted; sleeping bags, pillows, and a sleeping pad work well. Please dress appropriately for community sleeping; warm layers recommend. Access to electrical outlets available upon request for special needs.
  • Inclement Weather
    Should hazardous conditions result in cancellation of programs, announcements will be made on television stations KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI.
