Powdermill Nature Reserve
In addition to housing comprehensive geodatasets of Powdermill and the region, the GIS lab is equipped with five computer workstations for use by staff and research associates. Each computer has ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 Advanced software with Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, Network Analyst, Tracking Analyst, and Data Interoperability extensions. Other remote sensing and GIS software packages are also available for use. The lab has six Garmin Montana 650 GPS units for use by staff and research associates.
If you are a museum staff member or research associate needing GIS training, consultation, or data, please contact the lab at GIS@carnegiemnh.org. Some services may require fees, which are determined on a case-by-case basis.
We are actively seeking new research project proposals and ideas. If you are a graduate student looking for a place to do conservation research that requires geospatial analysis, please contact the GIS Lab at GIS@carnegiemnh.org for an application. Funding may be available on a competitive basis.
