Welcome!

This website is devoted to the land snails of the Keystone State. Pennsylvania land snails, which include more than 100 species of both shelled animals and slugs, are found almost everywhere but are little known. This site provides a variety of land snail topics and species profiles to help students, naturalists and researchers learn about these fascinating creatures.

Site content is written by Ken Hotopp, Principal of Appalachian Conservation Biology, and edited by Tim Pearce, Head of Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s Section of Mollusks.

Images are by Ron Lutz II, Larry Watrous, Bill Frank, Ed Thompson, Ken Hotopp, Brent Steury/NPS and Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility, and cannot be reproduced without the permission of the photographer.
