Arctic
Mammalian Faunas of the Early and Middle Tertiary Investigations
into the phylogeny, biogeography, and paleoecology of the Tertiary
terrestrial vertebrates from Arctic regions are centered on collections
from Ellesmere, Axel Heiberg, and Devon islands, of Canadas
Northwest Territories. Eocene and Miocene faunas are included. The
fossils indicate that climatic conditions ranged from warm temperate
(Eocene) to cool temperate (Miocene) in an environment that featured
a typically polar light regime.
